AMR International supports The Economist Group's $43m acquisition of Capitol Advantage

Serving the US political advocacy information and services market, Capitol Advantage provides a set of tools that assists trade associations and corporations improve the effectiveness of their communications with Congress.

Its core product, Capwiz, is a workflow tool used by trade associations to help their grass roots communicate with Congress in a coherent and co-ordinated fashion. Capitol Advantage also provides Congressional directories and congressional relationship management tools.

AMR International supported The Economist Group with commercial due diligence on the transaction. In order to understand the potential fit between Capitol Advantage and The Economist Group’s existing trade publication and data service assets, AMR undertook over 100 interviews with current, former and prospective customers, competitors and other industry participants. AMR concluded that Capwiz has a secure current customer base and that it had scope for further innovation and deeper market penetration. In addition, there are strong cross-selling opportunities between certain Capitol Advantage and Economist Group customers. Following AMR’s analysis and recommendations, The Economist Group acquired Capitol Advantage for $43m.
