AMR International supports The Economist Group in the acquisition of Congressional Quarterly

Congressional Quarterly (CQ) is the leading provider of paid-for Congressional news and legislative information. In January 2009, The Times Publishing Company announced its decision to sell CQ citing its inability to invest sufficiently in the business’ growth. The Economist Group (TEG) had already identified CQ as an excellent fit with its own Beltway information business – Roll Call Group (RCG).
TEG appointed AMR to conduct commercial due diligence on CQ. It was looking for a clear analysis of CQ's served market, market penetration potential, competitive offerings and its prospects, for both online and print products. AMR concluded that demand for CQ's information was high, that CQ had a combination of mature products and those with potential for development, and that there was also room to drive market growth through the introduction of new products. It was clear that a combination of CQ and RCG would be beneficial to both the business and its customers.
"AMR’s report presented a balanced picture of the business and a useful view on growth opportunities, especially in the core areas. Once again good work was delivered to a tight deadline.” (Andrew Rashbass, CEO The Economist Group)
